The sanction imposed on Carlos Gurpegi will end at midnight on 23 April 2008, according to the notice sent by the RFEF, to Athletic Club Headquarters, on 25 March of this year.
Athletic Club, apart from reiterating the player’s innocence, would like to congratulate him now that his ordeal is over with and expects that he can now concentrate on football as of this weekend.
Our club has organized a series of activities to celebrate Gurpegi’s return to the game. These activities will take place prior to the start of the match against Mallorca, as well as during the match, the date and time of which has not been determined yet, thus converting this encounter into a welcome back party for the player.
For the already mentioned clash, Athletic Club is preparing a mosaic with the slogan of Ongi Etorri (Welcome) along with the player’s dorsal number, which will also appear on a giant canvas in the centre of the field. What’s more, Athletic Club would like to make a call to all those who are going to San Mamés to wear t-shirts or other items, which will remind everyone of Carlos Gurpegi. Furthermore, if anyone would like to buy an official jersey from our stores and would like Gurpegi’s name or number printed on it, the printing is free of charge.
Any further activities to be organized by Athletic Club will be announced by the Club.
