The Ibarreko Tournament: Athletic the Champions

Athletic Club has won the Ibarreko (Youth) Tournament with a decisive victory over Santutxu in the grand final by 4-0. The squad led by Antonio Karmona played well throughout the tenth edition of this prestigious Bilbao Tournament which provided the club with numerous individual awards: Yanis Rahmani (Best player of the tournament), Gorka Santamaría (Highest goal-scorer) and Jon Endika Jauregi (Best goalkeeper). In the consolation final the host team beat Cultural de Durango easily by 3-1 with the help of star player David Jaramillo ‘Deivy’ who received the best local player award. Blas Ziarreta and Koldo Asua, two of the sporting managers in Lezama, were there right through the tournament which, despite the bad weather, had registered a great number of spectators.
