The V Javier Uria Memorial Tournament

Despite the adverse weather conditions, the fifth edition of the Javier Uria Memorial Tournament was held yesterday, Sunday the 1st of June.

On this occasion 24 different Football 7 teams, from Biscay, Alava, Gipuzkoa and Iparralde, took part in the event and, were divided into two categories: those born in 1996 and those born in 1997.

The attendance rate at the Sports Facilities in Lezama was massive, and the sporting and party atmosphere predominant throughout.

In the end the winners were Deusto in the 1996 category and Joma Athletic of Arrasate in the 1997 category.

The finals and the closing ceremony had to be held at another location because it had been raining all morning non-stop, causing diverse logistical problems, though this was not enough to put a damper on the good atmosphere and the fun had on this day.

Once again and as usual, a floral wreath was placed on the monolith at Lezama to pay homage to the departed Athletic Club President, Javier Uria. His relatives were present along with the current President Fernando García Makua, Vice-president Joseba Intxaurraga, Board members Sandra Aurtenetxe, Jose Angel Iribar, and representatives of the Basque and Biscayan Football Federations.
