The Athletic Club players Borja Ekiza and Iker Muniain expressed their satisfaction after having been included in UEFA’s sensational new League players’ list on its official web page. Both players emphasized the help they received from their teammates when it came to being chosen and underlined the importance of the team work carried out by Athletic throughout the recently finalized 2010-2011 season.

Borja Ekiza said “I’m very happy when I heard the news: “I was informed by the club that I appear on the web page and the truth is that for me this season has given me one nice surprise after the other, from my debut to this nomination, along with my consolidation in the premier team”. Nevertheless, he states that “now it will be more difficult. I’m proud of my teammates’ reception in the locker room, of the people I’ve found there, but I’m aware that next season the competition will be fierce and even more so with the three competitions that lie ahead in which we hope to play a lot of matches. I appreciate it that my game has been taken into account, however, after the holidays hard work will again be the only way to go so that the present does not come to nothing”.

As far as the attacker is concerned, he was surprised by the nomination: “To be honest I didn’t expect it, but it’s always important when a heavy-weight website remembers you. Borja and I have been pointed out, but it’s a reward for all the work done by the team. I think we’ve had a very good season as well as Llorente, Iraola, Martínez, San José, and Iturraspe in his day and Jonás, and even our new teammate Ander Herrera. The fact that we all have fewer holidays is a nuisance, but at the same time it’s a good sign. I’d like to express my gratitude to those who have chosen me and my teammates for all their work. Without everyone’s sacrifice, what we have done alone is of no use”.
