Lizaso and Corres’ hat-trick conquer Sant Gabriel

The Athletic Club Women’s team finishes the first half of the season with a clear victory before Sant Gabriel. A hat-trick by Y. Corres and a goal by Lizaso gave Juan Luis Fuentes’ girls the three points at play in Barcelona.

Good first minutes by Athletic Club that had two corner serves in the initial moments. In the 11, good play by the rojiblancas that concluded with a centre into the area by Izaskun but Ibarra’s shot was high over. In the 22, a deep pass by Irene over Erika but the Navarrese forward was unable to overtake Brigid. In the 32, the rojiblancas took a free-kick and the rebound reached Y. Corres who gave Athletic the lead with a shot on goal with her right. In the 43, the second goal could have been scored, but Erika shot wide the centre pass from the right by Y. Corres.

In the second half, Lizaso extended the lead, with a shot with the left from the front of the area. The rojiblancas, with the match under control, had occasions to increase the lead, but in the 70, the referee whistled a penalty in the only approach by Sant Gabriel to Ane Otxoa’s area in a struggle for the ball from a free-kick. Carla was in charge of trimming the distance, but without time to avoid the comeback, Y. Corres, in a clever play scored the third. With nine minutes of regulation time left, Y. Corres took advantage of a good pass by Orueta to score the hat trick and the fourth by the rojiblancas in the last match of the first round.
