Today, Wednesday (11 February), the third day of the Thinking Football Film Festival will be held at Sala BBK of Bilbao (Gran Via, 19); the film, football and culture festival that the Athletic Club Foundation organizes along with Sala BBK and with the collaboration of the Bilbao City council.
At 17:00 hours, the Spanish-Zambian coproduction ’18Team’ (2014, Juan Rodriguez-Briso) will be projected; an inspiring documentary film that covers the history of the Zambian National team from the tragedy of 1988 in which practically the whole premier team died in a plane crash until the incredible victory of the 2012 African Cup, just a few kilometres from the crash site and after an 18-shot penalty shootout.
After the screening, attendees will be able to talk with the director of the film, Juan Rodriguez-Briso.
Later, at 19:00 hours, Mundial: The Highest Stakes (2014, Michal Bielawski),a Polish documentary that recreates that country’s most important soccer moment, which coincided in time with the beginning of the end of Communism in Poland; a time, in which football and politics overlap, making it all the more difficult to differentiate where one commenced and the other ended.
After the film screening, the audience will be able to engage in dialog with the film director, Michal Bielawski, as well as with the former Polish international and member of that 1982 World Cup team, Stefan Majewski.
We remind the public that admission is free, subject to available seating.
