The programme of Thinking Football Film Festival 2018 has been unveiled. The festival will open on March 5 at 7:00 pm with the presentation of the Audience Award from 2017 to The Pass and the premiere of the English film Kenny, about life and career of the Scottish legend of Liverpool FC, Kenny Dalglish. Directed by Stewart Sugg, the feature film documentary puts special emphasis on the role played by Dalglish in the struggle for justice for the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy in 1989.

The film that will close the festival, on March 20, will be Forbidden Games: The Justin Fashanu Story, a documentary by Adam Darke and Jon Carey that gathers the life and tragic death of the first footballer who decided to come out, the English striker Justin Fashanu . On the same day of the closing ceremony, on the other hand, the premier of Iragartze, a short film by Irene Herrero winner of the Thinking Football-Euskaltel contest of Videocreation in Basque, will be organized again in 2018.

In between, an edition of Thinking Football Film Festival with clear British flavor (with no less than six films from the cradle of football), which will collect stories of popular management teams (The team in my neighborhood), how the football can be used to help people with problems (Crazy for football), the social complaint (The Workers Cup), the magic of the stadium (The Lane), the harsh reality of the players without team (Zweikampfer), racism and violence in the stands (Forever Pure) or how sometimes sports dreams are fulfilled (Do not take me home and 89).

Thinking Football Film Festival is organized by the Athletic Club Foundation with the collaboration of Sala BBK and the main sponsorship of Euskaltel. It also has the sponsorship of the Hotel Melia Bilbao and BCD Travel, as well as the collaboration of Metro Bilbao, Comunitac, the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid and the Cinemanía, Panenka and Líbero magazines. The 11mm festivals in Berlin, CineFoot in Brazil and OffSide Film Fest in Barcelona are our friendly festivals. To all of them, the Athletic Club Foundation would like to thank you for your invaluable help.

As every year, all sessions will be in the Sala BBK, admission free while seats are available. Let’s think football!
