Iñigo Martínez “We are the Athletic Club and we have to make the most of it”

After the training session this morning in Lezama, Iñigo Martínez has offered the press conference ahead of the match against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday in San Mamés.

It’s time to keep the good roll of the last days as locals and to overcome last week defeat. The objective to continue fighting for an european place is enough incentive not to let the occasion pass. “We are looking forward to seeing each other where we are now. With hard work and the support of the fans, we are in a very good situation to achieve something nice. We are going to give all in every game until the end”, commented the player, who knows that in San Mamés it is necessary to take advantage once again of the good harmony between the team and the supporters: “It is going to be a complicated game, but we play at home, we are Athletic Club and we have to take the game forward”.

Iñigo, who had good words for his young defensive mates, both Yeray and Unai Núñez, who “are doing wonderfully every time they have had the chance to play”, also referred to Sunday’s rival. Rayo Vallecano comes before one of his last attempts to avoid relegation and that need will complicate even more without fit the match: “Sometimes they risk too much, but we have to press up and recover the ball. We don’t want the game to be a two-way one. We have to control it and hurt them.”
