It’s been a fantastic weekend for Athletic Club. There has been nothing but good news. The club’s top three teams have won their matches and are looking confidently towards their goals.

The atmosphere in San Mames, with almost 40,000 spectators despite being played at lunchtime, was very powerful. Beyond the communion with the fans of the Rayo, which we hope to see in the First Division next year, the stands pulled the team in the delicate moments of the odd game. Gaizka Garitano’s side are now seventh-ranked, a place that entitles them to the Europa League if Valencia finishes among the top six. The last two games played at home have ended in 3-2 wins. There have been more defensive problems, but the team is ready to give its best.

El women’s team also fulfilled their obligation of winning to focus on the fourth place and won in Albacete despite the carousel of casualties. Nerea scored the only goal of the match, enough to defeat the local team, and this goal, was her scoring debut. Now it’s time to visit Sevilla on Sunday.

Bilbao Athletic, keeps winning in Lezama. They beat Barakaldo 4-1 (two goals from Villalibre, one from Vivian and the other from San Bartolomé) and they are playing their last chance to try to enter the play-off promotion this Thursday in Langreo. The team from Barakaldo, which took a lot of fans to the red-and-white facilities, mark that promotion zone with seven more points.

The most positive news from the youth ranks was the winning of the National Youth League trophy, which defeated Danok Bat B 1-0. Basconia broke their great streak with a 2-0 loss to the needy Zamudio, but are fifth with same points as the third.
