Celtic FC has dedicated on its official website an article in which highlights again the awarding of the “prestigious One Club Man Award” to Billy McNeill. The Scottish club emphasizes and thanks “the very special day that Athletic Club dedicated in honour of the greatest captain in the Celtic’s history.
“The whole day was a show of class and kindness on the part of Athletic Club,” writes Celtic, and also highlights the statements of Susan Chalmers, Billy’s daughter, in which she says: “I’m very proud. It’s a fabulous honour for my father and the family. The culmination of an entire career, something really beautiful.
The report also includes a detailed description of the different events that took place during the day. In the morning, “Susan and John Clark were welcomed by the first team at the hotel with a warm ovation after a moving presentation about McNeill’s figure. At noon, a visit to the museum and lunch with the veterans, and finally, “the impressive version of You’ll never walk alone resounding in the stadium while the Basques waved Hoops scarves and flags and a thrilling video tribute to Caesar was projected on the huge screen of the field.
The article also mentions the words of “Billy’s friend and team-mate, the Lion of Lisbon, John Clark”, who stated: “It is a great privilege to have come to Bilbao to gather the prize in Billy’s name”.
Finally, we would like to point out that on Celtic FC’s social networks, the impact of the OCM award was also fantastic. Thank you very much! Go raibh maith agat! Eskerrik asko!
