It has been the hottest day of the year in Bizkaia, but without a doubt the real heat has been put throughout the day by the flood of zurigorri fans who have raised the temperature even more through the streets of Sestao. The Peñista Eguna, the annual party with which the Agrupación de Peñas del Athletic Club celebrates the end of the season, has left no room for doubt.
A day that forced us to be well protected, hydrated and with the indispensable solar cream, one of those days that invited us to search for a parasol or the wet sand of the beach rather than the asphalt. The sun on the left bank has also squeezed pretty tight, but no one has wanted to miss anything that happened in the streets of Sestao.
The municipal corporation has received in the Town Hall the president Aitor Elizegi, accompanied by the directors Goyo Arbizu and Itziar Villamandos, to give start to the day together with the representatives of the Association and the Peña Valverde, organizer of the event in its XXV anniversary.
The day has left a lot of images, from the txupinazo and kalejira, to the Herriz Herri set up by the Athletic Foundation for the youngest ones and especially the lunch in the Benedicta where it has been necessary to gather tables to feed half a thousand people.
Then it was the turn of the usual presentation of awards with which the Agrupación de Peñas distinguishes all the protagonists of the season. Among the winners, Peru Nolaskoain and Lucía García Córdoba, who have apologized for their absence by particular commitments, in the case of the striker, on the verge of starting her presence in the World Cup in France.
