Muniain celebrates 10 years of its debut

The red-and-white captain celebrates this 30 July 2019 ten years since his debut in official match with Athletic Club.

It was 2009, Athletic Club, coached by Joaquín Caparrós, was playing the first qualifying round of the Europa League against Young Boys’ Swiss team and a young Iker Muniain made his debut in the second half replacing Toquero.

Ten years have passed and the 26-year-old Red and White captain has already accumulated a lifetime of experience at Athletic Club since his debut at the former San Mamés where, despite losing, he experienced a moment of double joy. Firstly, for the debut and secondly, because in the second leg his first goal for Athletic Club (in the second half) meant that the team qualified for the next round.

In these ten years, Iker Muniain has accumulated 385 official matches with the first team, in which he has scored 54 goals. Iker was one of the members of the team that won the SuperCup 2015-16 in addition to playing many games in Europe (54 in Europa League and 7 in Champions).

In the ranking of more matches played with Athletic, Muniain who is tied right now with Óscar de Marcos and Mikel San Jose in 21st place.
