Fernando Ochoa, manager for 21 years, has passed away

Fernando Ochoa, who was manager of the Athletic Club for 21 seasons, has died at the age of 75. An industrial engineer, he joined Ibaigane under the guidance of Pedro Aurtenetxe in 1982 and actively participated in the idea of chartering the ‘gabarra’ to celebrate the league titles, and left the red-and-white entity in 2003.

Ochoa also had a past as a red-and-white football player. He was a midfielder and was part of the first junior team of the Club and played two seasons in Bilbao Athletic (1962-63 and 1963-64) before playing in Barakaldo and Club Deportivo Logroñés.
