In the early stages of the match there was no clear dominator of the game. Nekane had a dangerous approach thanks to a good play by Lucía García. For its part, the CD Tacón carried danger to Ainhoa’s area thanks to Jakobsson. The Swedish player almost scored if it wasn’t for the crossbar that repelled her shot. The Swedish international at times wanted to take over the protagonism of the fixture.
Villacampa’s squad knew how to shake the danger of the Madrid team and had very good minutes combining and midway through the second half. You could see a better team on the pitch.
In the 32nd minute came the play in which the referee nullified a goal by Lucía García’s offside. The forward, shortly after, stood alone in front of Yohana who guessed the trajectory of the red-and-white’s shot. Carranza stadium enjoyed and encouraged Athletic. The CD Tacón approached again but the clearest occasion was a header from Oihane Valdezate that went to the crossbar on the edge of the half-time.
After going through changing rooms, the lionesses came out a bit hesitant and that allowed Aznar’s picture to get deeper. They put pressure on Athletic, just as they did in the first half. Esther threw a ball over the crossbar in a free kick. When Athletic were settling in again, Jakobsson in a side centre almost surprised Ainhoa.
The answer wasn’t long in coming. Thanks to pressure from Athletic, Nekane put a pass to the penalty spot that Azkona could not connect. It was the 67th minute of the match. The referee then decided to review the play and decree the maximum penalty. A penalty that did not convert Maite first, but she did in the refusal to overtake the lionesses in the Carranza.
Athletic suffered in the last stretch of the clash to not have the ball, but managed to leave the goal to zero for the first time in the course and of course, qualify for the grand final of an historic Trophy Carranza. The rival will leave the clash will be played tomorrow Tuesday at 10pm between Betis and Tottenham Hotspur.
