Aritz Aduriz, the star of the night for his goal; Iñaki Williams and La Liga debutant, Oihan Sancet, have talked to the media after Athletic Club’s 1-0 victory over FC Barcelona in the league season premiere in San Mamés. These are his impressions:
Aritz Aduriz:
‘The team has been incredible. There is no better way to start than adding three points against Barça. I’m very happy to be able to help the team. I said that I would always be available to Athletic and the team to help and today I could prove it. The atmosphere of San Mamés is always unbeatable, but it is true that today people have taken even more eagerly this game. Athletic is based on young people. We have to give them confidence and go little by little with them. They are going to help us a lot during the whole season’.
Iñaki Williams:
‘The team has been incredible, in a very intense and disputed match. We arrived very alive at the end of the match, our goal man scored and ‘nailed’ it. I’m very happy for Adu. It’s his last year and I want him to say goodbye with as many goals as possible. The supporters have been spectacular. They have wrapped us the 90 minutes, this are the supporters that we want to take everywhere. When we go hand in hand things are much easier. This victory strengthens us and we’re on our way to achieving great things’.
Oihan Sancet:
‘I am very happy to be able to make my debut in San Mamés and on top of that get the victory. All the teammates have congratulated me for the debut. The atmosphere at San Mamés is incredible and that always helps you. I remembered all the coaches I had in Lezama. Since I was little they have helped me a lot and if I’m here it’s thanks to them’.
