Ibai: “I feel recovered and ready to start”

Ibai Gómez has appeared in the press room of Lezama after the training -penultimate before the match- that Athletic Club has carried out in closed door with two days to go against Getafe CF in the second day of LaLiga.

The red-and-white winger declared that he is “available for the mister and very willing to participate and contribute on Saturday“. Ibai explained the problem that kept him away from the league premiere against Barça: “I suffered a heavy blow on the twin before London, and I was left with a hematoma that made me sick for a few days. In other situations perhaps I would have risked more to be, but experience tells us that it is better to lose a week because there are 37 ahead”.

The red-and-white player has analysed the match that awaits Athletic at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez: “We’ve got it very clear and we learned it last year: we have to go do what we know and do it as much as we can because if we don’t, we won’t win. We have to do things perfectly to get the points. We know which opponents we’re going to have against us, that they’re going to put pressure on us and they’re not going to let us put the ball in… They are very aggressive and also dangerous from set pieces. It’ll probably be a closed game with just a few goals”.

On a private level, Ibai, who highlighted “the illusion that the team transmits in each training session“, expressed his feelings: “My goal is to be in the eleven every day, that’s what I work for. But if I don’t play, I’ll do my best for the group. We know there’s a lot of competition in each position and that’s great for the team”.
