Iraia Iturregi’s challenge

The historic former Athletic Club player, Iraia Iturregi, debuts as coach this season. After retiring with more than 400 games, four league titles and 15 campaigns on the field, the athlete from Loiu wants to progress in her career. After being the physical trainer of the second and first teams, this season she assumes the technical direction of Athletic Women’s B, which starts its league campaign in the North group of the Second Division (called this year Reto Iberdrola).

The Madrid CFF subsidiary will be the rival of the red-and-white team on this first matchday, which will be held at the Lezama facilities from 12.00 pm. “It will be a hard team, but like all the teams we will have in front of us this season.” The second team of the Athletic Club will face this season the subsidiaries of other state football powers such as Atlético de Madrid or FC Barcelona.

Iturregi has always been a very competitive player and is looking forward to the league starting. “I’m very happy with this new challenge and this team motivates me a lot.  I’ve had some more grey hair due to the worries you take home.”
