The Athletic Club has been present in the 1st Football Heroes Awards ball, recognitions that the International Football Development Association (IFDA) gives to different entities and personalities of the world of football that stand out for their professionalism, social responsibility and moral values.
The red-and-white club won in the Marketing category for its ‘excellent promotion of the women’s section, which resulted in the highest attendance at a stadium in Europe’. The nomination referred to the 48,121 people who met in San Mames last January 30 in the quarterfinals of the Copa de la Reina against Atletico de Madrid. The other two clubs nominated were AZ Alkmaar (Netherlands) and SC Recife (Brazil).
During the ball, a thank-you video was broadcasted from the red-and-white entity with the message recorded by its footballer Damaris Egurrola.
