Unai López:“I can still make more of myself”

In a week without rest, with three games in seven days, Athletic Club has returned to the in Lezama trainings only a few hours after yesterday’s success against Alavés. At the end of the session, Unai López has appeared in the press room as a representative of the current leader of First Division. “I slept very well -he recognised satisfied-. We and I think all of Bilbao“.  Despite the leadership, the midfielder has wanted to send a message of caution: “We are happy, but we are at the round 5 and there is still a long way to go. We have to keep working to keep going up there. It would be premature to set an objective. Now we have to go calmly and work party by party. We played six points in four days and we are focused on that.”

On a personal level, Unai has express feeling “grateful and proud” of his leading role in the team after a difficult season: “I think I am helping the team to be better and that is why I am happy. Last year I was in the stands and this time I am helping from the field. I am really looking forward to working and I still think I can make more of myself. “The midfielder highlighted the sacrifice of the whole team in defensive tasks: “We have a brutal defence, but we attack eleven and defend eleven. It’s the best this team has and that is why it is so hard to score a goal.”
