Athletic´s moment at Letras y Fútbol

San Mames has witnessed today a special event, on this occasion; it has not been in the field, although Athletic Club played the main role.

Firstly, thanks to the emotional tribute to José Mari Múgica (1935-1993) organized by Athletic Club Foundation, with its president Juan Carlos Ercoreca as the speaker. An unforgettable journalist that according to Juan Carlos, “was born for his two main passions, Athletic and his city Bilbao”. His sputniks and a long photography projection of the journalist was recalled and handed to his family.

In a crowded room where different representatives such as the president of the Club, Aitor Elizegi, the managers Jorge Gómez, Tomás Ondarra, Iker Goñi and Goyo Arbizu, Jon Vázquez Eguskiza, the director of the Foundation, ambassadors of the entity like José Ángel Iribar and Andoni Goikoetxea, other players such as Ainhoa Tirapu and Eli Ibarra, or the unforgettable journalist Patxo Unzueta attended the meeting. Other guests such as Laura Mintegi, Santi Segurola, Jon Rivas, Carlos Ranedo and Kike Martín have discussed about the role Athletic has in literature at the Cathedral.

During the meeting, many anecdotes came up with this topic. The evolution of football as training and its relation with culture was the focus of the session. In the end, football is no longer the “opium of the people”, but a very often topic at the bookshops, “quite excessive sometimes, indeed”.
