San Mames in blue, supporting the World Diabetes Day
Athletic Club joined the cause and supported the international day whose aim is to raise awareness and support all the patients suffering from this disease
In 1921, November 14th, Frederick Banting and Charles Best made their way towards the discovery of insulin. In their honor, we celebrate the World Diabetes Day on the same date. The date was set up by the WHO in 1991 and in 2006 the UN decided to include the date in their official calendar.
The aim is to raise awareness about the causes, symptoms, medical complications and treatment linked to diabetes. A serious condition that is increasing. According to the researches will keep rising in the following days.
Last Thursday evening, November 14th, San Mames stadium lit up in blue during 30 minutes as part of the collaboration between Athletic Club and the international Diabetes community.
