Athletic Club Foundation donates a thousand gowns customized with red and white t-shirts for boys and girls receiving treatments in Cruces, Basurto and from the IMQ

This initiative is part of the collaboration the Foundation has maintained for years with Osakidetza, now also extended to the IMQ. The aim is to help, as far as possible, in the process of humanization of paediatric treatments. The presentation ceremony took place in the San Mamés Press Room and was attended by Juan Carlos Ercoreca and Jon Vázquez Eguskiza, president and general manager of the Foundation, as well as Edurne Omaetxebarria, Medical Director of Cruces University Hospital, and Eduardo Maiz Olazabalaga, Managing Director of OSI Bilbao Basurto.

In addition to the initiative of the gown, which reached the Foundation through Panenka magazine and whose original idea came from the “We are Xuxa” collective, other new aspects of the collaboration with Osakidetza were presented at the press conference.

In this sense, the Foundation has designed new stickers that work as a medal whose aim is to reinforce good attitudes among patients towards treatments delivered at any health centres in Bizkaia. A diploma has also been designed and it will be given to those children receiving treatments at the hospitals of Cruces and Basurto. It certifies they are “Supertxapeldunes” – champions – for the way they have behaved throughout the treatment. The diploma is signed by the heads of the official teams of Athletic Club Iker Muniain and Ainhoa Tirapu. Finally, the Foundation continues with the process of customising different spaces in Cruces Hospital with different designs inspired by the values of the Athletic Club. This year new rooms at the hospital of Cruces will be designed.

Finally, the same initiatives will be soon presented with the collaboration of the IMQ.
