Five of the best goals of 2019
We record five of the best goals of the first ladies’ team in 2019
Veterans, debutants, captains, lobs and headers. At San Mamés or Reale Arena. Many and of different scorers. The 2019 season closes at the best time of the season for the lionesses, who hope to continue scoring decisive goals in the same way in 2020. To open the year, the main attraction will be the match against FC Barcelona in San Mamés (Sunday 5 January, 12.00 pm).
This is just a small extract of some of the most significant goals.
1- Lucía García (Athletic Club 4-0 Sporting Huelva, 2018/19, Matchday 17)
Last season’s and this season’s top scorer, Lucia Garcia, appeared alone in front of the goalkeeper from Huelva after an impressive gallop and crossed the ball to seal the match. In the final moments of that match, Azkona scored her first goal in the top category of women’s football.
2- Vanesa Gimbert (Athletic Club 2-0 Levante UD, 2018/19, Matchday 26)
The veteran of the team opened the scoreboard with an unappealable shot from a corner in what was the second match of the season at San Mames. The team had lost the cup match against Atletico Madrid but was able to achieve a league win against Levante in the Cathedral.
3- Leia Zarate (Sevilla FC 1-2 Athletic Club, 2018/19, Matchday 28)
A key moment of the season and a key victory in Seville for those led by Joseba Aguirre at that time. The striker of Lezama, in spite of not enjoying a great height, showed her spectacular power in the jump and surprised the Andalusian defense in a corner. Oihane Hernández scored her first goal with the first team that day thanks to a strong shot.
4- Marta Perea (Athletic Club 3-0 Madrid CFF, 2019/20, Matchday 2)
After the first defeat of the season in Buñol against Levante, Villacampa’s team made their home debut. Erika Vázquez scored a double in addition to giving up a ball for Marta to score her first goal in the elite with a beautiful lob.
5- Nekane (Real Sociedad 0-2 Athletic Club 2, 2019/20, Matchday 5)
Victory in Anoeta that changed the negative dynamics of the competition start. In a match of extreme importance and in a scenario such as the renewed Reale Arena, Athletic got a great victory. Azkona, the top assistant of this year’s competition, assisted the arrival of Nekane to open the scoreboard in the first minute of play. It was necessary to suffer, but the lionesses resisted in Donostia.
