AC Museum will show the Cup and the programme Real Vigo Sporting Club gave to Athletic in 1923, for their silver anniversary.

RC Celta de Vigo was founded in 1923 with the merger of the two main teams of the Galician city: Real Club Fortuna de Vigo, founded in 1905, and Real Vigo Sporting Club, which was launched in 1913 from the union between the Vigo FBC and Sporting Club.

Before facing the current RC Celta, Athletic had already played against the partner clubs of the Vigo team in both friendly and official matches.

As for official matches, Athletic faced Fortuna de Vigo in the 1910-11 and 1914-15 Cup editions, while in the 1906-07 Cup they faced Vigo FBC, and Real Vigo Sporting in the 1913-14 editions (first Cup match in the history of San Mamés), and in 1919-20.

They were the Galician teams, therefore, regular rivals, and as such they attended, together with the main clubs of the time that had once faced the lions, the celebration of the Silver Anniversary of Athletic Club held at San Mamés.

Today, in the authorities’ box, the gift that the Real Vigo Sporting Club gave to Athletic on that occasion is presented, a humble cup that reads “The Real Vigo Sporting Club on its silver anniversary” and the program of that celebration in June 10th, 1923.
