Athletic Club will collect in Milan the Gianni Brera Award
he award will be shared next Tuesday with Inter, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, as they represent four big Club that have always played in the top category
Athletic Club, represented by Jose Angel Iribar, will collect the prestigious Gianni Brera Award next Tuesday 21 at the Teatro del Verme in Milan. The awards will celebrate this year its 19th edition. The award will be shared with Real Madrid, Fútbol Club Barcelona and Inter, as the four big League clubs that have always played in the top category.
The Gianni Brera, named as a prestigious Italian journalist and sports novelist who died in a car accident, has some illustrious winners. The first, in 2001, was Ferrari, with Luca di Montezemolo, and afterwards different personalities of the world of football, such as Paolo Maldini, Luigi Del Neri, Fabio Capello, Marcello Lippi, Gianluigi Buffon, Claudio Ranieri, and Italian clubs such as AC Milan, Juventus and Sassuolo, and Inter on two other occasions, have been awarded.
Other athletes also picked up the award, Armani Milan basketball player, the cyclists Damiano Cunego, Anna Mei and Team Sky, the right handed Valentina Vezzali, the President of the Italian National Olympic Committee Gianni Petrucci, the canoeist Daniele Molmenti, the paralympic swimmer Cecilia Camellini and diver Elena Bertocchi. In the last edition, it was the women’s volleyball national team that received the award for the second time and Zlatko Dalic, the Croatian national football coach.
