Azkona and Oihane elevated to first-team status

The forward and the defender, who had been registered as B-team players so far, will have new numbers on their backs as A-team footballers

Ane Azkona and Oihane Hernández have deservedly earned a first-team status. The players from Navarra and Sopela will be officially registered with the team of Ángel Villacampa from this seventeenth league match (Madrid CFF, 12.00 pm) onwards, wearing new numbers on the back of their shirts. The forward will change her number 23 shirt for the 16, and the defender says goodbye to the 24 to wear number 12.

Azkona (15-07-1998) is one of the best surprise players of the side managed by Villacampa. The footballer from Pamplona has played all the league matches held this season, being a starter in ten of them. She has managed to score three goals and has added 896 minutes to her tally during the current campaign in the first division. Ane has participated in one match with Iraia Iturregi’s reserve team, contributing two goals and an assist in the 3-1 victory against FC Barcelona B in the ninth matchweek of the Reto Iberdrola.

On her part, Oihane (04-05-2000) has played for the reserve team on two occasions: in the sixth and seventh matchweeks. The player from Sopela has played a total of eleven matches with the first team, being a starter in nine of them. She provided a great assist in the fixture won 1-4 against Rayo Vallecano. She has enjoyed 764 minutes on the pitch.

Both players are part of the present and future of Lezama. The forward from Navarra made her debut in the first team in 2016 under the management of Joseba Aguirre; Ohiane did it in January 2019. Their talent was confirmed when Azkona was called to join the Spanish national team ‘Promesas’ while Oihane Hernández has always been selected for the fixtures held in the lower categories and was part of the team that won the 2018 European Under-19 Championship.
