Basconia takes the good wave

The team led by Patxi Salinas has played nine consecutive matches without a defeat and is now ranked in the play-off position for promotion

CD Basconia is on a good run in Group IV of the Third Division. Since the degeat against Sestao River Club on November 3, the team, headed by Patxi Salinas, has played nine games without a single defeat. Since then, they have won six times (Cultural de Durango, Tolosa, Lagun Onak, Ariznabarra, Somorrostro and Deusto) and drawn three times (Santurtzi, San Ignacio and Sodupe) to reach the top of the standings. Moreover, in five of them they managed to keep a clean sheet.

The team has improved as weeks went by and it is now ranked fifth in the chart, with the same number of points Gernika has. This position marks the fourth and final position to enter play-off positions for promotion. Among the team’s scorers is Youssouf Diarra, who, with 10 goals, became the team’s top scorer. Just one goal behind the group’s top scorer Leandro (Sestao River, 11). The Naveira brothers, Xabier and Unai, are the next ones appearing in the special list of goal scorers with three goals each.

Basconia will be facing some demanding matches in the upcoming weeks. They will visit Portugalete and CD Vitoria, team that are currently ranked second and third place in the scoreboard, and between the two clashes,  they will play against Santutxu in Artunduaga, who which is ranked in the middle of the chart.
