110 years since the fourth Cup title was won

On March 20, 1910, Athletic beat Vasconia in San Sebastian, achieving its fourth Cup title

Today, 110 years ago, on 20 March, Athletic Club signed its fourth success at the Cup championship. The then red-and-white team (just a few months before they switched to the Zurich shirt) beat Vasconia Sport Club of San Sebastian in the final at Ondarreta de Donostia by 1 to 0, scored by Remigio Iza in the minute 56.

Athletic thus won the Cup again, a title achieved in 1902, 1903 and 1904, and in which Madrid FC (1905 to 1908) and Club Ciclista San Sebastián had subsequently won the previous year, 1909, after eliminating the us in the semi-final. Most of the players who made the San Sebastian team champions were members of Vasconia SC in 1910.

In the final, in which Athletic reached after beating Madrid CF 2-0 in the semi-final, the champions formed with Astorquia, Amann, Arsuaga, Grahan, Cammeron, Belauste, Hurtado, Iza, Burns, Veitch and Iceta.

The Cup generated great expectations in Bilbao and proof of this was the crowded reception that was prepared the day after the final, from the moment the team arrived in the city by train. Scattered in three vehicles from which they showed the Cup, the football players received the ovation of hundreds of supporters on the streets of Bilbao in an unparalleled reception until that moment.
