We remember the victory over the CD Híspalis and the celebration that came afterwards in front of 35,000 spectators at San Mamés. It was the first League title for Athletic Club ladies team.

Among the many videos you can enjoy on our official YouTube channel, today we would like to review and enjoy again the brief of the 5-0 victory of Athletic Club over the Sevillia CD Híspalis on 27 April 2003 at San Mamés. It became the First Division League title won in the women category of our entity.

Our lionesses were the protagonists of a practically perfect championship. In the 21 previous days to this last one, they had only lost on one occasion, in October in Sabadell in the second clash. With 16 victories and 4 draws, the players headed by Iñigo Juaristi were going to play the title against a Levante UD, a team that credited some spectacular results too.

The gale of football at San Mamés was such that Athletic Club won the then Superliga , with a spectacular win to which Eba’s double contributed, as well as the goals scored by Tzibi, Ibarra and Lorena.

The 35,000 spectators who gathered at San Mamés broke a record of attendance for a women’s football match at State level at the time. The celebration of the female football players as they walked around the stadium after the final whistle will live long in the memory.

After this Superliga, two more came consecutively and another one alternatively, so that this unrepeatable generation of players won the title four times in just five seasons.
