Nolaskoain, Ganea, Andoni López and Iñigo Vicente agree on the positive aspects of their respective experiences in the First and Second Divisions to continue growing as football players

In a new virtual meeting with our players, today, it was the turn of four of our players on loan from other clubs. Peru Nolaskoain (RC Deportivo), Cristian Ganea (Viitorul Constanța), Andoni López (Elche CF) and Iñigo Vicente (CD Mirandés) have been answering to the different questions posed by both the supporters and the media #FromHome.

Confined to their homes, the four players are anxiously waiting for the moment to go back to the competition so that they can continue with their development, although, as Peru Nolaskoain pointed out, the need to guarantee security prevails: ‘The first thing is the health of everyone, including the players. In my opinion, it’s a bit hasty and we have to come back as best we can by ensuring it’s safe’.

All of them agree that the experience away from Lezama is helping them to grow both professionally and personally with a common goal: to find minutes to play, to gain experience so that in the future they can have their place at Athletic Club. They acknowledge that they are fighting to prove that they can take part as lions of the first team next season. Peru admits that this experience ‘makes you aware of things and makes you value what you have at home’, so does Andoni Lopez, who stresses the fact that ‘there is no club like Athletic. When you go out, you see the family that it is and the union that it has’.

Coached by Andoni Iraola in the CD Mirandés, Iñigo Vicente admits to being living something ‘wonderful’ in his first experience outside Athletic: ‘Someone you have been watching since he was a child, how he succeeded at Athletic, being the captain for many years. I am grateful for being able to learn from him. I’m very happy, but I have a lot to show for next season’.

Out of the four, Ganea, despite having tried his luck in the silver category on another occasion, he is the only one currently playing in another league, the Romanian one. Although he had experienced  it in previous times: ‘At first it was difficult because I hadn’t played for a long time, but now I’m enjoying it very much, even scoring goals. But I’m looking forward to coming back and showing that I can do things well and earn a place’.
