Jon Morcillo’s contract renewal

Reserve team left winger Jon Morcillo has renewed his contract with Athletic Club until 2023. The highest goal scorer in Joseba Etxeberria’s side with ten goals was about to finish his association with the club in June, so the deal will be extended for another three seasons.

Morcillo is the only red-and-white reserve team footballer, together with midfielder Oier Zarraga, who has appeared in the 28 match leagues played by the team. This is the fourth season the forward from Amorebieta is playing at Lezama, where he arrived from Cultural de Durango. He has been one of the key footballers responsible for Bilbao Athletic’s excellent campaign, who were sitting second in the table just before the league was interrupted due to the pandemic.
