Athletic Club won extinct España FC in the final played in Irun
Today marks 106 years since the Cup Athletic Club won against España FC at Costorbe Stadium in Irun. The final started at 4.30 p.m. on May 10, 1914, and was won 2-0 by our Club.
Severino Zuazo scored two goals before the first half an hour was completed. Coletas’ goal in the 89th minute established the final 2-1. That of 1914 was the first of the three editions of the Cup that our Club raised in a row.
Athletic Club – España FC in Irun
To reach the final, Athletic beat in the semifinals Vigo Sporting, after winning them 11-0 in Bilbao and against whom they drew 3-3 in the second leg match played in Galicia.
