In 1948 Athletic Club celebrated our Golden Jubilee with a 5-0 win over FC Barcelona
In 1948 Athletic Club turned 50 years old. To celebrate our Golden Jubilee and after the end of the League, the Tournament of the Historic Teams was born, a triangular championship that our club played against Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona.
The match corresponding to June 13, 1948, exactly 72 years ago today, faced Athletic Club and FC Barcelona at San Mamés. A hat-trick by Zarra, a goal scored by Arrieta and another one by Iriondo established the 5-0 with which the game ended.
