The red-and-white manager has highlighted the role of two of the youngest footballers in the squad: “I’m really glad about how all the group are working, I see they have plenty of energy”
Gaizka Garitano has talked to the media in the press conference at San Mamés after Athletic Club’s win over Mallorca by 3 goals to 1. The red-and-white boss stressed the efficiency of the team in their first two approaches to their rivals’ goal: “We did not miss our two first scoring chances. We found it a little difficult to play the ball, but we dealt with the match well.”
Garitano highlighted the role of two of the youngest footballers in the squad: “I’m really happy for Oihan Sancet and Asier Villalibre because of the goals they scored. I see them as present and future players in the team, and this has surely made them feel more confident. I’m extremely proud of the team as a whole, I see they have plenty of energy”.
When asked about the fight for a European spot, the coach from Derio considered that “we have to end the season with a bang. If you want to get that position you have to rise above really strong teams, and to do that, you must defeat them. We have difficult matches ahead of us, games against rivals we aspire to beat”.
