“We’re still in the fight”

The red-and-white manager’s aim is to get the three points at La Nucía tomorrow against Levante to continue having the opportunity to fight for a European spot

Gaizka Garitano has talked to the media in the press conference room at Lezama ahead of their fixture against Levante UD corresponding to Matchweek 36 in LaLiga Santander. The red-and-white manager is aware that there are only 10 days left to finish the domestic competition, and he has insisted they have to give their all in these last three contests: “Looking at numbers is useless, tomorrow’s game is what matters. We’re still in the fight, if we win against Levante we’ll have chances to win until the end“.

Being aware of the difficulty that lies in the qualification for a European position when so many teams are involved in the fight, Garitano claimed to know the formula: “To get the 9 remaining points we have to win tomorrow first. If we manage to clinch a victory, we’ll be closer to it, otherwise we’ll be far from it. It’s simple. We must be well prepared and play a good game to pick up the three points“.

Athletic will face an opponent that is not particularly powerful physically, but they do have high quality: “Levante have plenty of players with skillful feet, people who create chances. They are an aggressive team, with a lively performance, and have shown what they are capable of doing. We’ll have to be careful”.
