The red-and-white women’s subsidiary has started the preseason training in Lezama. After passing the medical tests and several evaluations under the sanitary protocol required by the covid-19, the players of Iraia Iturregi have been training in field 8 under a suffocating heat. The young players are now back on the field after the break in March and as champions of Reto Iberdrola Norte championship, somewhat bittersweet because of the way the competition ended.
The morning session has been attended by 20 players who performed different strength and endurance works and some exercises with the ball. Currently, the team has 8 players from the B team who are repeating with Iraia, including Irene Oguiza, who is now injured and made her debut last year in Primera Iberdrola. In addition, several players of the C will complete the preseason and very probably have a place in the subsidiary. The same as the six new incorporations for the team of Tzibi Juaristi. They are the goalkeeper Alaitz de Castro, Amets Muniozguren, Aizaro Rodrigo, Naia Landaluce, Amaia Iribarren and Irati Alfaro.
Another name to highlight is Ainhoa Tirapu, coach of the lower categories goalkeepers, who has experienced her first session as part of the coaching staff after announcing her retirement last April and after defending Athletic’s goal for 15 seasons.
The young youth academy players will be working out again tomorrow, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning and they will play some friendly matches in the middle of August. The return to competition is scheduled for September 27. This 20/21 the second state category will count with four new teams that have been promoted this past weekend in Las Rozas like Joventut Almassora, UD Aldaia, RCD Espanyol B and FF La Solana.
