Athletic Club leads the Index of Transparency for LaLiga clubs

The red-and-white club earned the maximum score in Transparency International’s INFUT 2019 Rankings

Three years after the last edition, Transparency International has today published its Index of Transparency of the Football Club (INFUT) 2019. Over the course of several months, the institution analysed the official websites of the 42 clubs that constitute LaLiga. Their 48 indicators of transparency cover the most important areas of information which clubs should provide for their members, supporters and the general population.

With the application of these 48 indicators, every football club received an individual score, placing them in a table based upon their level of transparency. Athletic Club occupies first position alongside eleven other clubs (Osasuna, Alavés, Barcelona, Levante, Celta, Betis, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Valladolid, Eibar y Sevilla). In addition, Athletic Club also achieved a maximum score of 100 points.

In the two previous editions of this Index of Transparency of the Football Club (INFUT 2015 and 2016), Athletic Club managed respective 10th and 11th places among the First Division teams.

The five areas of transparency evaluated in the INFUT are: A) Information about the football club; B) Relations with members, supporters and the general public; C) Economic-financial transparency; D) Transparency regarding contracts and supplies; E) Legal indicators of transparency.

The 48 indicators evaluated are the final result of a collaborative process between specialists and experts from numerous entities (university scholars, sporting entities, fan associations, sports journalists and public institutions, such as the National Sports Council and Liga de Fútbol Profesional).
