Athletic Club head coach Gaizka Garitano lamented his side’s 2-0 defeat against Granada placing the blame on a lack of concentration after the restart.
The lion fell to a 2-0 defeat in their LaLiga 2020-21 opener thanks to two second half goals by Yangel Herrera and Luis Milla.
“It’s so important to stay concentrated for all 90 minutes,” Garitano said in his post-match press conference. “We were the better team for most of the match, but ten bad minutes at the beginning of the second half killed us.”
The boss pointed out that Athletic had the majority of the possession, but unfortunately they were not able to make it count.
“We played most of the game in the opponents half, but if you don’t score it doesn’t matter,” Garitano said. “They [Granada] can hit hard and they didn’t fail.”
He added: “The overall level was good. There’s a lot of youngsters in this team and we have to take a chance on them.”
