Athletic Club defender Mikel Balenziaga made it clear the squad are focused on winning against Levante on Sunday and he also reiterated that a victory will provide the boost needed to see an upturn in form.
After a two-week break due to international fixtures, Athletic return to LaLiga action this coming Sunday, facing Valencian outfit Levante at San Mames (kick-off at 14:00 CET).
“The team is doing well and we’re confident we can beat Levante,” left-back Balenziaga told the media at a virtual press-conference in Lezama. “Getting a victory will help to change the situation for the better, for everybody.”
He added: “We haven’t started [the season] well, but it’s only been four games and there’s room to manoeuvre.
“The team’s working together and with positivity, we’re only thinking about winning against Levante.”
The full-back insisted there is enough talent in Athletic’s current squad to see results improve and get the lions moving up the LaLiga Santander table.
“I trust this squad 100 per cent,” Balenziaga said. “We are the ones here and I’m convinced together we can turn this situation around and move forward.
“We need to stick together and support each other, like Athletic always has done during difficult times.”
