The 2020-2021 Copa is underway
Athletic Club will join the Copa in Round 3 due to their participation in the Super Cup
With the qualifying rounds out of the way, the Estadio de La Cartuja has raised the curtain on the Copa 2020-21 with the draw for the first round. One-hundred-and-twelve clubs, except the four teams playing in this year’s Super Cup, including Athletic Club, will compete in the first round of the domestic cup competition.
The lions have a bye and are exempt from the first two rounds. The ties for the first round were drawn this Monday and the fixtures, which will only be one leg, are scheduled to take place on December 16. The second round, also one-off matches, are pencilled in for January 6. Afterwards, FC Barcelona, Real Sociedad, Real Madrid and Athletic Club will enter the draw for the third round, which will also consist of straight knockout ties.
Biscay-based clubs in the first round
Four sides from the province of Biscay have a spot in the first stage of the competition and they’ll all play their respective ties at home. Best of luck to all our partner clubs.
