Athletic Club and footballer Unai Nuñez have reached an agreement to extend the centre-back’s contract until 2025, with the last year subject to certain targets.
The defender’s last contract was due to expire on June 30, 2023 and had a release clause of 30 million euros. The new contract contains no release clause.
Nuñez has been at Lezama since joining the Under-11s and so far in his four seasons with the first team he has made a total of 79 appearances.
He made his debut for the Spanish national team in September 2019, a few months after winning the European Under-21 Championships. This Monday night gone, he made his first appearance for the Basque national side in their fixture against Costa Rica and he capped off his debut with the winning goal.
On Wednesday morning, the 23-year-old will hold a virtual press conference live from Lezama at 12:30.
