Athletic Club will hardly have time to breathe this festive period, as the LaLiga Santander matches will be coming thick and fast.
The lions have to play six LaLiga matches in December, plus a fixture against Elche CF and the postponed match versus Barcelona at the beginning of January. That’s a total of eight matches in 34 days.
The first fixture takes place this very week, with Athletic welcoming Celta Vigo to San Mamés on Friday 4, at 21:00 CET. Eight days later, the lions travel to Mestalla to face Valencia (Saturday 12, 14:00). Then on December 15, Athletic head to the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano to take on Real Madrid (22:00), a match which has been brought forward due to the Spanish Super Cup.
Next up, SD Huesca come to Bilbao for a LaLiga match on Friday 18 at 21:00. The lions then have another midweek match, this time against Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica (Tuesday 22, at 22:00).
Athletic see out the year at San Mamés with a Basque derby against Real Sociedad (Thursday 31, at 14:00). The first match of 2020 follows a week later, with Athletic Club playing Elche CF at The Cathedral on Sunday, January 3 at 14:00.
And last of all, on January 6 at 21:00, Athletic Club host FC Barcelona at San Mamés for their rescheduled matchday 2 clash.
