Half-time: Real Madrid 1-0 Athletic Club

The lions are 1-0 down at the break in Madrid. Athletic Club have been playing with ten men since attacking midfielder Raúl García receieved a second yellow and was sent off in the 14th minute.

Athletic’s best chances came via Iñaki Williams, but Carvajal managed to knock the striker off balance before he shot. Afterwards, De Marcos headed over after getting on the end of Williams’ cross. Unai Simon kept out Vinicius when the Brazillian forward was through on goal, but the Athletic keeper could do nothing about Toni Kroos’ long-range effort just before half-time.

Athletic are defending well despite being a man down, and were unfortunate to go behind after holding out for so long.
