Back to normality for the Lionesses

Iraia Iturregi’s players are preparing to face Espanyol on Sunday after spending time in compulsory quarantine

Athletic Club Women are back to training with a complete group ahead of this Sunday’s Primera Iberdrola clash with RCD Espanyol.

Since their draw in Badajoz on January 23, the Lionesses have missed a home match against FC Barcelona and an away fixture with Real Betis due to a positive case among their ranks

After some players spent a period of time in quarantine as ‘close contacts’, head-coach Iraia Iturregi can now call upon the vast majority of her squad, with the exception of defender Ainhoa Moraza* who, whilst in good health, remains in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 on January 24.

In addition to Moraza’s absence, Iturregi will also be without Ane Azkona, Erika Vazquez and Jone Ibáñez for Sunday’s match.

The squad is not only preparing for Sunday’ game with Espanyol, but also for a clash with Madrid CFF the following Wednesday.
