Marcelino praised his players’ reaction in their first game back after the the Copa: “We dominated Betis, but we couldn’t score.”
Athletic Club manager Marcelino García Toral insisted that the Lions use this tough streak to help them improve.
The Rojiblancos picked up a point against Real Betis at the Benito Villamarín despite having chances to win and Betis going down to ten men early on.
“The players responded well to the challenges,” Marcelino said at his post-match press conference. “We know it’s a difficult moment, but in difficult moments you can also grow, and that’s what we’ll do until the end of the season.
“We are Athletic and that forces us to do our best and be better every day. We cannot be pessimistic.”
As for the fixture itself, Marcelino decided to focus on the positive aspects in his post-match analysis.
He said: “We started well, with a good mentality and we looked for the goal.
“The dismissal gave us an even bigger advantage, but we weren’t able to score. We had chances to go ahead, but [Claudio] Bravo was very sharp on the night.
