The Athletic manager predicts a tough match against Real Madrid on Sunday evening
Marcelino García Toral insisted Athletic will give it their all to beat Real Madrid at San Mamés on Sunday evening (18:30 CEST).
The fixture will be the last of the season at The Cathedral and the Lions will be looking to round off the campaign with a home win.
“I think we’ll compete well,” Marcelino said at his pre-match press conference. “It’s an appealing match against an opponent who will push us hard. Our plan is to make life for them as difficult as possible.
“We have to be strong, we’ll need to be out our very best.”
The Gaffer expects a similar match to Athletic’s Supercopa victory over Real Madrid in January, saying: “It’s always difficult to beat a great team twice in a row, but we can’t put too much thought into that.
“We need to approach the match at hand. They need to win their two remaining matches in order to have a chance of lifting the title.
“Let’s see if we can do what’s necessary to beat these big teams.”
