Athletic Club to face FC Union Berlin in pre-season

Athletic Club’s pre-season, which kicks off on July 7, is starting to take shape. The Club has started arranging the friendly matches which will help the first team get ready for the start of the season.

The first match to be confirmed is the clash between Athletic and FC Union Berlin on Saturday, July 31. The fixture will take place at the An der Alten Försterei stadium in Köpenick, kicking off at 15:30 CEST.

Promoted to the Bundesliga’s top flight for the first time two years ago, Union Berlin consolidated their place in the top flight this season and secured a place in next season’s UEFA Conference League after finishing seventh in the 2020-21 campaign.

Urs Fischer has been head coach of the Berlin-based side since 2018 and was one of the architects behind the club’s rise from the Second Division to European competition in just three seasons.

Over the next few days, the rest of the Lions’ pre-season opponents will be confirmed.
