Euskaltel to continue sponsoring Athletic Club Women

Euskaltel has renewed its sponsorship agreement with Athletic Club Women’s senior team for the 2021-2022 season. The telecommunications company maintains its status as the Club’s technology provider and is an Official Partner of the Athletic Club Foundation.

Athletic Club president, Aitor Elizegi, together with Euskaltel president, Xabier Iturbe, and the company’s CEO, José Miguel García, took part in the meeting to reaffirm the agreement. Footballer Nekane Díez wore the Athletic shirt at the signing ceremony, which took place in Lezama. The Euskaltel logo will be displayed on the front of the side’s official playing kit and on their training kit.

In addition to offering technological support to Athletic Club, Euskaltel focuses its sponsorship on the women’s team as a reflection of the values of the telecommunications company, where equal opportunities, non-discrimination and respect for diversity are at the core of its operations. In short, equality understood as a social commitment to supporting sporting and cultural initiatives that promote women’s sport.

In 2013, Athletic Club and Euskaltel reached an agreement in which the telecommunications operator became the first team’s sponsor and the Club’s technology provider. This agreement was strengthened in 2016, when Euskaltel became Athletic Club’s Women’s principal sponsor, with its its logo appearing on their shirt since then.

Aitor Elizegi expressed his satisfaction with the agreement with Euskaltel, saying: “This is eight years of agreements with this company. It is a commitment to keep moving forward in sport with its values and dedication to women’s football. It is a part of sport that needs support.”

For his part, Xabier Iturbe stated that “it is a very positive deal for Euskaltel, it represents an agreement with a team with which we share values, such as culture and hard work. Athletic Club Women is a team which reflects those values of equality”.
