Athletic continues to grow on social media

Athletic Club’s success boosts follower figures on its official channels to record highs at the end of the season, with more than 32 million interactions

Athletic Club’s official accounts on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, Youtube, Linkedin and Weibo obtained almost 33 million interactions during the 2020-21 season, representing a growth percentage of 67% compared to the previous season.

The figures, provided by the company Blinkfire Analytics – which manages the tool used by LaLiga to analyse the digital performance of all the clubs in the competition – also reflect the remarkable leap made by the Athletic in the terms of audiovisual content, with more than 81 million views.

This number puts Athletic in fourth place in the season’s ranking in video views -with FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid recording better figures- thus endorsing the Club’s commitment to bring all the latest news to our followers in a campaign made difficult by travel restrictions.

Athletic Club Women
The 2020-21 season also saw the creation of Athletic Club Women’s new official Twitter account in March. In addition to the account already existing separate account on Instagram (@athleticclubfem), the separation from the Club’s general Twitter account allows us to offer a more personalised and comprehensive focus on our women’s teams.

The Athletic Club Women’s accounts finished the season in fifth place in Primera Iberdrola clubs’ ranking in terms of social media interactions. Despite not having their own channel on Facebook or Youtube, the Lionesses were only surpassed in total engagement by FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid and Real Betis, accumulating around 1.5 million interactions, 73% more than in the previous campaign.
