Marcelino believes a point a piece was a fair result after a match in which there were few chances
Athletic Club Marcelino García Toral head coach was not overly critical of the Lions after Friday night’s draw against Levante UD, but did admit Athletic should have been more clinical in the final third.
“Looking at what happened on the pitch, the draw is a fair result,” Marcelino said post-match. “We wanted to win, but we didn’t do enough in attack to deserve it. We had some chances and so did Levante, but to win you have to do more offensively. We have to demand more from ourselves.”
The coach continued: “We’re a squad that works hard to get the best results and we must all demand more from each other. Away from home it’s difficult, but in terms of attitude, effort, defensive solidity and collective work I can’t have any complaints.
“Nonetheless, we have to be demanding more of ourselves and I think that we could have generated more.”
